instead of throwing it
Soft
drinks, cosmetics, medicine and food seasonings often come in plastic
bottles.
The bottles generally end up in an incinerator or a
landfill site.
But
they contain valuable material than be reused as polyester fiber and
synthetic resin to make a surprising variety of
goods.

Soap from Waste Cooking Oil
Members of the Seikatsu Club Co-op wanted
to recycle left over cooking oil, so they decided to
make soap out of it.
Environmentally friendly soap, of course.
The waste cooking oil comes mainly from
kitchens in schools, municipal facilities, homes and
restaurants.
It takes about a week to make the soap:
After procedures that include
precipitation, filtration, and rinsing with hot water, the oil is mixed
with white clay and
carbon to remove odors and impurities.
It is re-filtered to obtain a transparent vegetable oil.
The soap is odor free and it dissolves
well in water. It is good for
automatic washers. Clothes
come out soft and
spotless.
ven These Things Come From
Plastic Bottles

In 1986, Fuji Film
manufactured its first no-fuss, one-time use cameras, and consumers
loved them. By
the
1990s the sale of these cameras had reached the 30 million mark and
the company was receiving a lot of bad press, as the cameras became a
symbol of the throw away age.
Fuji went back to the drawing
board and created a camera so that each part could be reused as is, or
transformed into raw material that could be used again.
Now, the plastic covers and
winding knobs are reduced into small pellets, which are then molded
into new
parts.
The lenses, bodies and strobe units undergo a strict inspection
and are incorporated into new cameras.
The
paper covers of the cameras are now sent to a paper manufacturer for
recycling.
And, even the left over
batteries are used within the factory.
